The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) has spoken about the process of returning lender funds from Dana Syariah Indonesia (DSI) after three company executives were detained by the police. Agusman, the Executive Head of the Supervisory Agency for Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions, and Other Financial Services Institutions at OJK, said coordination with the Indonesian Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) is ongoing. ‘Currently coordination with Bareskrim is ongoing, including in the process of tracing assets of PT DSI and/or other assets suspected of being connected to the placement of funds by lenders, to support the process of recovering lender funds in accordance with applicable regulations,’ Agusman said in a written statement, cited on Friday, 6 March 2026. Agusman also said OJK continues to monitor plans for holding the General Meeting of Fund Providers (RUPD), including ensuring there are authorised persons to act and represent the company if the board is unable to chair the RUPD. He also stated governance processes and communication with lenders remain ongoing. Bareskrim Polri has detained three senior executives of PT DSI who were named as suspects in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of funds. They are PT DSI’s President Director Taufiq Aljufri; PT DSI’s Commissioner Arie Rizal Lesmana; and former Director Mery Yuniarni. The three senior officials of PT DSI were named suspects on Thursday, 5 February 2026. Investigators suspect they violated several provisions including embezzlement in office, embezzlement, fraud, fraud through electronic media, falsification of records, and money laundering regarding the distribution of public funds that PT DSI conducted through fictitious projects. The case relates to activities from 2018 to 2025. The legal counsel for PT DSI’s President Director, Taufiq Aljufri, Pris Madani, previously stated that his client was ready to face the legal process. He also said Taufiq is willing to return the funds invested by lenders through DSI. ‘He is willing to return 100 percent, and also add around Rp 10 billion,’ Pris said at the Bareskrim Polri building on Monday, 9 January 2026. The amount Taufiq is willing to return is calculated based on bank statement evidence. Based on estimates from Bareskrim Polri, PT DSI’s total default to lenders is around Rp 2.4 trillion.
