Jakarta (ANTARA) - OJK’s Deputy Commissioner for Regulation, Licensing, and Quality Control, Deden Firman Hendarsyah, stated that Indonesia is among the top ten countries targeted by anomaly traffic, based on data from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN). Anomaly traffic refers to network traffic within a system that exhibits unusual, suspicious, or deviant patterns from normal behaviour, often indicating a cyber attack. “We do not know what makes Indonesia attractive to hackers and cyber criminals, but the fact is that Indonesia is in the top ten targets for anomaly traffic,” said Deden Firman Hendarsyah at the CXO Forum Banking Update 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday. By sector, he noted that the financial sector holds the second position for the highest number of cyber incidents. He urged all banking industry players to increase vigilance and continue innovating to strengthen each company’s cyber resilience, given that cyber attacks can negatively impact public trust in the national banking industry. Deden explained that these cyber attacks do not only occur due to external factors, such as attacks from outsiders, but can also be caused by internal factors. Some of these internal factors, he continued, include outdated information technology and core banking systems, security standards that are not up-to-date, and antivirus software still using old versions.
