OJK Not Yet Opening New P2P Lending Licences This Year
JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has stated that the freeze on licences for fintech peer-to-peer lending, or online loans (pindar), will continue to be maintained.
The Executive Head of Supervision for Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions, and other financial services institutions at OJK, Agusman, said that the moratorium on fintech lending licences will not be lifted throughout this year.
“It will still (be under moratorium this year); we need to tidy things up first,” he said when met after the Oath-Taking Ceremony for Members of the Financial Services Authority Board of Commissioners on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
“We’ll moratorium first, still tidying up,” he added.
Previously, there had been news that the moratorium on new fintech lending licences would be opened first.
However, Agusman stated that the moratorium on fintech lending licences will also not be opened this year.
With relatively lower interest rates, Agusman hopes that this type of pindar can be accessed by more people who have productive needs.
“But the situation is, various dynamics are happening in the field. If there’s fraud, it’s pitiful,” he concluded.
For information, the moratorium on fintech lending licences is the closure of licensing for new online loan operators.
This policy has been implemented since early 2020 and aims to evaluate the compliance and implementation of governance by all online loan business actors already registered with OJK.
