Kediri (ANTARA) – The Kediri branch of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), East Java, is providing early financial literacy education, targeting students, so that they can better understand financial literacy.

The Head of OJK Kediri, Ismirani Saputri, stated on Wednesday the importance of financial literacy education, especially for students.

“This literacy achievement is important capital to continue encouraging the improvement of financial inclusion in Islamic finance,” she said in a statement received in Kediri.

She said that OJK has created the School of Syariah (SOS) programme. One of the locations for this education is in Ngawi Regency.

The activity, which is a collaboration between OJK Kediri, the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) of Ngawi Regency, and PT BPRS Ngawi Regency (Perseroda), was attended by 200 junior high school students in Ngawi Regency.

The event aims to instill an understanding of Islamic financial management and build the habit of saving from an early age.

“Through the School of Syariah, we want to strengthen this understanding from school age, so that the younger generation not only knows about Islamic finance, but also feels confident in using Islamic financial products wisely and responsibly. This is a real step in opening the way to shared prosperity through Islamic finance,” said Ismirani.

She added that, based on the 2025 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) conducted by OJK, the level of Islamic financial literacy among the public has reached 43.42 per cent.

Meanwhile, the level of Islamic financial inclusion is recorded at 13.41 per cent, which reflects a significant potential for growth, so that with this education, it is hoped that the public will become more knowledgeable about Islamic finance.

The Regent of Ngawi, Ony Anwar Harsono, in the activity, expressed his appreciation and support for the implementation of the SOS activity in Ngawi Regency.

He emphasised that financial education from school age is a strategic investment in shaping a generation that is intelligent, independent, and responsible in managing finances.

“This activity is expected to produce a financially intelligent young generation and become agents of Islamic financial literacy in their community,” he said.

In the activity, the students received material on financial management from an early age, money management, awareness of illegal financial activities and online gambling, and an introduction to Islamic banking products and services that are legal and supervised by OJK.

This educational activity is part of a series of national campaigns for the 2026 Islamic Finance Ramadan Festival (GERAK Syariah), which carries the theme “Opening the Way to Shared Prosperity through Islamic Finance”.
