OJK Hopes Lenders of DSI Can Still Recover Funds Before Licence Revocation
JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) hopes that the funders or lenders of PT Dana Syariah Indonesia (DSI) will still receive their fund refunds.
The Executive Head of Supervision for Financing Institutions and other financial services institutions at OJK, Agusman, stated that the fraud case triggering the payment default has been handed over to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri).
“We hope for that (fund refunds). The lenders must not be harmed,” he said after the Oath-Taking Ceremony for Members of the OJK Board of Commissioners on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
“The lenders must not be harmed; it’s their money, after all,” he added.
OJK has not yet determined the source of the fund refunds. Options such as asset liquidation or other sources are still under review.
“We’ll see how the developments unfold,” he said.
DSI’s business licence has also not been revoked. OJK is still carrying out supervision stages.
“We have special supervision and so on. We’re also ensuring that the lenders don’t get confused if it’s revoked,” he explained.
Coordination with Bareskrim Polri is ongoing. The legal process has already named suspects and entered the asset identification stage.
“There are already suspects. Asset identification related to them has also begun,” he concluded.
The losses to the funders are estimated to reach Rp 2.4 trillion. The case includes allegations of embezzlement, fraud, electronic media fraud, false financial reporting, and money laundering offences.
The modus operandi involved fictitious projects. Data from existing borrowers is suspected to have been used to attract funding from the public.
The investigation so far indicates that the practices occurred from 2018 to 2025. The losses were suffered by the lenders.
