Ramadan up to Eid al-Fitr becomes a moment for increasing financing disbursement, in line with rising community needs and seasonal working capital for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), according to Agusman in a formal statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

Historically, financing disbursement has consistently grown in the pawnshop, multifinance, and online lending (pindar) industries over the past two years.

Financing disbursement by pawnbrokers in March 2024 grew by 1.78 percent month-on-month (MoM) and rose 1.66 percent MoM in March 2025.

Agusman expects the pawnbroking industry to remain positive amid intense competition from various digital financing products, such as online lending and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL/paylater), as they offer collateral-based financing that is easily accessible to the public.

He noted that 165 business operators applied for pawnbroking business permits from 1 December 2025 to 12 January 2026, with a total of 223 licensed pawnbroking companies registered by January 2026.

“Two companies are currently in the process of expanding their business scope to national level in accordance with applicable provisions, while continuing to consider capital adequacy, governance and operational readiness,” he said.

Agusman also sees potential for increased financing in the multifinance industry based on realizations in previous years.

In March 2024, multifinance financing disbursement grew 2.05 percent MoM with gross Non-Performing Financing (NPF) at 2.45 percent, while in March 2025 it rose 0.78 percent MoM with gross NPF of 2.71 percent.

Meanwhile, in the pindar industry, Agusman revealed that the value of financing disbursement in March 2024 rose by as much as 8.9 percent MoM and rose 3.8 percent MoM in March 2025.

Although financing values continue to rise, the funding quality (TWP90) of the pindar industry is expected to remain below 5 percent during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period this year.

“To that end, among other measures, there is a need to strengthen credit scoring and borrower verification so that growth during the Lebaran momentum remains healthy and sustainable,” he added.
