OJK assesses many Indonesian shares as potential candidates for global MSCI indices
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Executive Head of Capital Market, Derivatives Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervision at OJK, Hasan Fawzi, assessed that there are still many Indonesian shares with the potential to enter the global MSCI indices.
However, several of these shares are still held back due to the policy of freezing the addition of Indonesian shares to certain index groups.
“Actually, if we look at it, not all (Indonesian shares) are removed because (their performance) has declined, but rather because it has risen. It’s just that for a temporary period, their policy is under a freeze, so those shares are delayed in entering,” said Hasan during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, there are still many Indonesian-origin shares that have the opportunity to enter the MSCI Small Cap Index or the MSCI Global Standard Index in upcoming periods.
In this regard, OJK, together with other self-regulatory organisations (SROs), will continue to encourage the readiness of potential issuers so that they can take advantage of the momentum in the next MSCI review cycle.
The global index provider, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), announced the results of the review of the Indonesian market index in the MSCI May 2026 Index Review.
In the review results, six Indonesian shares were officially removed from the MSCI Global Standard Index, namely PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN), PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA), PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA), PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (CUAN), and PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT).
Meanwhile, in the MSCI Small Cap Index, MSCI included the shares of PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT) into the small cap index or MSCI Global Small Cap Index.
On the other hand, MSCI removed several shares from the MSCI Global Small Cap Index. Those shares are PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (AALI), PT Bank Aladin Syariah Tbk (BANK), PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk (BSDE), PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk (DSNG), PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO), PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk (MIDI), PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk (MIKA), PT MNC Digital Entertainment Tbk (MSIN), PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk (TKIM), PT Pacific Strategic Financial Tbk (APIC), PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS), and PT Triputra Agro Persada Tbk (TAPG).
