Official questioned over Timor book

DILI, East Timor: An East Timorese official is currently being questioned about why he published his own version of the book 20 Tahun Timor Timur Membangun (20 Years of East Timor Development), the official version launched last Tuesday.

Provincial Administration Secretary Radjakarina Brahmana said the book published by A.H. Latuconsina has been declared illegal, Antara reported.

Latuconsina, who is secretary of the Association of Civil Servants in East Timor, was originally commissioned by the provincial administration to write and publish the book. The contract, however, was withdrawn because the content of his book did not follow the guidelines set by the government. (emb)
