Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has assured that the selling prices of state-subsidised energy products will not rise. This includes subsidised fuels (BBM) and 3-kilogram (kg) subsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Bahlil emphasised that the government is protecting the general public from fluctuations in global energy prices. He stated that the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) remains capable of supporting the subsidy burden, even if the Indonesia Crude Price (ICP) reaches high levels.

“Even until 31 December (2026), should the ICP reach US$100 (per barrel), insya Allah the prices of subsidised BBM and LPG will not rise,” he said at the Sinergi Alumni IPB Untuk Bangsa event, quoted on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

Bahlil explained that the certainty of subsidised LPG and BBM prices is a direct order from President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. The government will continue to monitor the availability of national energy stocks to ensure services to the public are not disrupted by international market dynamics.

“I reiterate that for BBM, insya Allah there will be no increase for subsidised BBM, including LPG. We will maintain that, and that is the order from the President, Mr Prabowo,” he clarified.

Nevertheless, a different policy will apply to non-subsidised energy products consumed by affluent segments of society. For that segment, the government will allow prices to follow market mechanisms dynamically in accordance with prevailing regulations.

The government notes that the energy subsidy burden, particularly for LPG, remains a challenge as annual expenditure reaches Rp137 trillion. Of that figure, the state must allocate Rp80-87 trillion to keep 3 kg LPG prices affordable.

So, what are the applicable LPG prices as of 11 May 2026?

Indeed, PT Pertamina (Persero) has officially raised the selling prices of non-subsidised 5.5 kg and 12 kg LPG starting 18 April 2026. This price adjustment has also been implemented at various official depots at the regional level.

Based on observations in the South Tangerang area, the 12 kg non-subsidised LPG is now priced at Rp245,000 per cylinder. Compared to the previous period, this represents an increase of Rp35,000 per cylinder.

A rise has also occurred for the 5.5 kg non-subsidised LPG, now sold at Rp130,000 per cylinder. For this type, the price has increased by Rp20,000 from the previous applicable rate before the latest adjustment.

“(The price) has risen. (LPG) 12 kg Rp245,000, (5.5 kg) Rp125,000,” stated the LPG depot attendant, quoted on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

However, the price of subsidised 3 kg LPG has not changed. The price applicable at least at one retailer in South Tangerang remains the same as the previous period, namely Rp22,000 per cylinder.

The Highest Retail Price (HET) for 3 kg LPG is Rp19,000 per cylinder in the South Tangerang area.
