Ocha, Student from SMAN 1 Pontianak, Responds to Controversy in MPR Quiz Competition
Student from SMAN 1 Pontianak, Josepha Alexandra or Ocha, has come under the spotlight following the judging controversy in the Four Pillars MPR RI Quiz Competition.
Ocha thanked the public for their support after her debate with the judges over her answer went viral on social media. Ocha said the support motivated her to be more enthusiastic and to develop further.
“From me and the team, we thank the public for their support and positive aspirations towards us. May this become a spirit and motivation for us to develop and advance in the future,” Ocha said when met in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5).
Ocha was in Jakarta after fulfilling an invitation from Rifqinizamy, Chairman of DPR Commission II.
Ocha admitted she was shocked that her quiz video went viral. She did not expect the attention from the public to be so great.
“My team and I actually did not expect the attention to be this big, and the video that spread also boomed,” she said.
On the same occasion, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda also appreciated the abilities of the LCC MPR participants from SMAN 1 Pontianak. As an alumnus of the school, Rifqi also emphasised that the teenage participants must be psychologically protected.
“I think I was surprised to see the communication skills of my younger siblings. This would have been when I was in first or second year of high school. Back then, when I led the student council at this high school, my communication skills were not as good as this,” Rifqi said.
“No less important, we must also realise that they are teenagers who must be psychologically protected,” he added.
In the circulating video viewed on Monday (11/5), the judge gave different scores for the same answer from participants. In the competition, Group C from SMAN 1 Pontianak received a minus five score for an answer related to the BPK member selection process.
However, a similar answer given by Group B from SMAN 1 Sambas was given a score of 10 by the same judge, namely Dyastasita, Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR RI Secretariat General. Participants from Group C protested, feeling their answer was the same. However, the judge stated that Group C’s answer did not clearly mention the Regional Representative Council (DPD).
The MPR has also deactivated the judging panel and MC for that quiz event. The MPR will comprehensively evaluate the activity.
“Regarding the buzz in social media news about the 2026 Four Pillars LCC at the West Kalimantan Province level, regarding the assessment of participants’ answers in one of the competition sessions, the organising committee from the MPR RI General Secretariat has deactivated the judging panel and MC for this LCC activity,” stated the MPR on its official Instagram account on Tuesday (12/5).
