Oasis wins platinum award

JAKARTA (JP): Oasis restaurant, the Forum Shark's Fin and Seafood restaurant and Singapore Ping restaurant won the platinum, gold and silver awards during the just completed first Jakarta Food Festival.

Fauzi Bowo, head of the City Tourism Office announced at the festival's closing ceremony that the three restaurants won the awards for their food, service and the meeting of overall requirements.

He said the winners were chosen by their own patrons who filled out voting forms stating their opinions about the restaurants.

The festival, the first ever held in this country, was participated in by 39 restaurants in Jakarta, which offers various cuisines, ranging from Indonesian to Italian. It was organized by the City Tourism Office, the Indonesian Tourism promotion Board and American Express Travel Related Service.

Fauzi said the festival was held in a bid to make Jakarta a more competitive city for doing business. "Eating is always important for business people coming to Jakarta for their affairs. Therefore our restaurants have to be able to offer them not only good and healthy food, but also good service and good ambience. The festival was aimed at upgrading service as well."

He said the festival will be held yearly. (als)
