Nyepi and Eid holidays are approaching. The government, through the Three-Minister Decree (SKB) on National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026, has set a long holiday period for Nyepi and Lebaran 2026 as follows:

  • Wednesday 18 March 2026: Collective leave for Nyepi (Saka 1948 New Year)

  • Thursday 19 March 2026: Nyepi Day (Saka 1948 New Year)

  • Friday 20 March 2026: Collective leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri

  • Saturday 21 March 2026: Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri

  • Sunday 22 March 2026: Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri

  • Monday 23 March 2026: Collective leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri

  • Tuesday 24 March 2026: Collective leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri

In connection with these national holidays and collective leave, Jakarta’s odd-even traffic scheme will not apply on 18-24 March 2026. This was conveyed by the Jakarta Department of Transportation (Dishub) via the Instagram account @dishubdkijakarta.

‘In connection with the holidays and collective leave for Nyepi (Saka 1948 New Year) and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H on 18-24 March 2026, the implementation of the Ganjil Genap system on various roads in Jakarta is CANCELLED,’ reads the statement from Dishub DKI Jakarta.

Prediction of peak mudik and balik for Lebaran 2026

Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo chaired a cross-sectoral meeting to plan the smooth flow of mudik and balik for Eid al-Fitr 2026. Sigit said the peak of mudik is expected to occur twice. The coordination meeting was held at the Mutiara Auditorium, STIK-PTIK Lemdiklat Polri, on Monday 2 March 2026. Attendees included Coordinating Minister for PMK Pratikno, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, and Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi. Deputy Chief of Staff of the TNI (Waasops), Head of BNPB, Head of BMKG, and directors of state-owned enterprises such as Pertamina, Jasa Marga, and Jasa Raharja were also present.

Sigit said the peak mudik for Lebaran 2026 is expected to occur twice, in line with the government’s work-from-anywhere policy.

‘The first peak of mudik (first wave) is likely to occur on 14-15 March. Then the government will implement WFH, usually between 16 and 17 March. The second peak is expected on 18-19 March,’ General Sigit said. He noted that Nyepi will also occur during this period, so crossing arrangements between East Java and Bali are needed to respect the Hindu community.

Police also predict two balik peaks for Lebaran 2026. The balik peaks are expected on 24-25 March and 28-29 March 2026.

‘Then the first balik peak on 24 and 25 March. The second balik peak from 28 to 29 March,’ he said.
