Number of Unemployed in Jakarta Drops to 334 Thousand People
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) for DKI Jakarta recorded 334,000 unemployed people in Jakarta in February 2026, a decrease compared to February 2025, which reached 338,000 people. “It dropped by around 4,540 people compared to February last year,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the total labour force in Jakarta in February 2026 stood at 5.53 million people, an increase of 57,640 people compared to the same month in 2025. Subsequently, the number of working people in February 2026 reached 5.2 million, an increase of 62,180 people. Over the period from February 2025 to February 2026, there was also absorption of 62,180 workers. “The increase in worker absorption occurred in full-time workers and half-unemployed, while the number of part-time workers decreased,” said Kadarmanto. “In February last year, the open unemployment rate (TPT) was 6.18 per cent. The open unemployment rate in Jakarta fell from 6.18 per cent to 6.03 per cent (February 2026),” stated Kadarmanto. In other words, he added, around six out of 100 people in the labour force in Jakarta are unemployed. Furthermore, in terms of gender, the male TPT in February 2026 was recorded at 6.54 per cent, a decrease compared to February 2025, which reached 6.77 per cent. A decrease also occurred in the female TPT, which in February 2026 was 5.28 per cent, down from 5.29 per cent in February 2025. “Although in terms of level, this is still lower than the male TPT,” explained Kadarmanto.
