Number of Deceased Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Rises to 7, 39 Still Under Treatment
The Head of Public Relations for the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Hasan Afandi, announced that two Indonesian Hajj pilgrims passed away in Madinah on the 12th day of the 1447 Hijriah Hajj operations, equivalent to 2026. “Innalillahi wa innailaihi raji’un. Two Indonesian Hajj pilgrims passed away in Madinah, namely Siti Sri Rahayu Sanusi (65) from SOC 12, originating from Pekalongan Regency, and Endar Jaya Purwadi (62) from BPN 01, from Samarinda City,” Hasan stated during a press conference on Saturday (2/5/2026). “Thus, the total number of deceased pilgrims now stands at seven. May the deceased be granted a blessed end,” he added. As of now, 39 pilgrims are still being treated in Saudi Arabian hospitals. Additionally, 5,576 pilgrims have undergone outpatient treatment, and 105 have been referred to the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic, he explained. Hasan noted that the condition of the pilgrims is being closely monitored, with continuous medical services provided at the cluster, sector, and referral health facilities levels. “The government is also ensuring the readiness of health services at all service points,” he clarified. Pilgrims who have arrived in Madinah number 165 clusters with 64,129 pilgrims and 657 cluster staff, and the movement of pilgrims towards Mekkah is proceeding gradually, he added. Meanwhile, 19 clusters comprising 7,387 pilgrims and 76 cluster staff have arrived in Mekkah.
