Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Lalu Muhamad Iqbal will issue a circular (SE) to regulate the planned implementation of work from home (WFH) specifically on Fridays. The regulation is still in the discussion stage.

Head of the Organisation Bureau of the NTB Regional Secretariat, Ahmadi, stated that the draft SE is being finalised together with the NTB Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD). The discussions cover technical guidelines to ensure the effective implementation of WFH.

“We are currently completing the Governor’s SE, including the technical guidelines, so that the WFH implementation by ASN can run well,” said Ahmadi when met at his office on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Ahmadi explained that the implementation of WFH exclusively on Fridays is intended for budgetary efficiency, particularly savings on fuel oil (BBM) usage. This scheme will be discussed with all heads of regional device organisations (OPD).

“Later, OPD heads will explain the WFH implementation. Which ASN are not allowed to do WFH will be specified,” he said.

He emphasised that not all ASN can carry out WFH. Echelon I and II officials are certain to continue working at the office. Some echelon III officials with important duties will also be exempted from the policy.

“All department heads and the Regional Secretary are not allowed to WFH. So we will continue working at the office. That means there will be device officials supporting them who are also prohibited from WFH,” Ahmadi stressed.

To support this policy, all OPD heads are requested to prepare work plans that can be done from home. They must also detail the ASN who can carry out WFH and calculate the potential budgetary savings.

“The implementation will be handled by BKD. And it must be reported to the Minister of Home Affairs every 4th of the following month,” he said.

The WFH implementation is scheduled to start in the second week of April 2026. This is because Friday (3/4) in the first week coincides with the national holiday for the Death of Jesus Christ.

“The point is, whoever is to be WFH-ed will also report their performance targets. For example, what do we work on Friday? Even though working from home. So it’s not a holiday, but a change of workplace to home,” he said.

In addition, OPD heads are also asked to prepare reports on budgetary efficiency from the policy. The savings include costs for BBM, electricity, water, and office operational needs such as tools and cleaning materials.

“This means all of this is available in our budget for office expenses. How much we save on BBM, electricity, water costs. We ask OPD heads to prepare this,” he concluded.
