The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government will implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy every Friday starting next week. Civil servants (ASN) under the NTB provincial government subject to WFH will be monitored through the Global Positioning System (GPS).

Head of the Organisation Bureau of the NTB Regional Secretariat, Ahmadi, explained that GPS monitoring via mobile phones allows for tracking the position of ASN. However, the rules for implementing WFH every Friday are still in the discussion stage.

“All ASN who WFH on Friday will be monitored by us through the GPS system. So, the handphones of ASN who are WFH must remain active. If not, they could be sanctioned,” Ahmadi stressed on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Ahmadi explained that supervision of ASN through the GPS system is carried out to monitor their performance. He emphasised that ASN found not to be at home during WFH will be given sanctions.

“Later, the implementation instructions and technical guidelines will be conveyed by us. The main point is that we will supervise,” added the former Head of the NTB Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

According to Ahmadi, this WFH policy will not affect the income and the amount of additional employee income (TPP) for ASN. ASN will still be counted as five working days even if WFH on Friday. He asked ASN to continue carrying out their duties and work well even from home.

“Still considered present from home. But, if when we call and there is no response, that could result in sanctions. So they must be on standby,” he said.

Ahmadi emphasised that the implementation of WFH does not apply to ASN who are on duty in several regional device organisations (OPD) for public services and emergencies. For example, ASN in regional hospitals, NTB BPBD, up to some ASN in the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).

In addition, the NTB provincial government also plans to regulate Friday WFH for ASN in the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) NTB. “Especially BBPD in the emergency section. This will continue to monitor disaster handling in NTB,” said Ahmadi.

Previously, NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal will issue a circular letter (SE) to regulate the plan for implementing WFH every Friday. The draft SE is still being discussed by the Government Bureau of the NTB Regional Secretariat together with the NTB Personnel and Civil Service Agency (BKD).

The implementation of WFH every Friday aims to save on the use of fuel oil (BBM). However, not all ASN can carry out WFH.

Echelon I and II officials, including department heads and the Regional Secretary, are certain to continue working in the office. Some echelon III officials with important duties will also be excluded from the policy.
