Novel Baswedan Surprised by Transfer of Files for Four TNI Soldiers: Hasn't Andrie Yunus Been Examined Yet?
Former KPK investigator Novel Baswedan claimed to be surprised by the transfer of the case files for four soldiers from the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus to the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta.
“I was surprised to read the news that the acid attack case file on Andrie Yunus has been transferred to the Military Prosecutor’s Office. Hasn’t Andrie Yunus been examined yet?” Novel said via his X account on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Kompas.com has obtained permission from Novel Baswedan to quote the statement.
Novel stated that the handling of cases involving attacks on activists has often not been taken seriously.
“From the beginning, there has been concern that the attempted planned murder case against Andrie Yunus would be handled superficially, and the perpetrators would receive light sentences,” he said.
According to him, the case has the potential to be considered as having a personal motive, so the perpetrators will not be prosecuted thoroughly.
“It’s very wicked; not only are the perpetrators not prosecuted thoroughly, but the victim is also slandered,” Novel said.
The TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) transferred four BAIS TNI soldiers as the perpetrators of the acid attack on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, to the Military Prosecutor’s Office (Otmil) II-07 Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
“The Puspom TNI investigators have completed the entire series of investigation processes in accordance with applicable provisions,” said Aulia in a press release from the TNI Information Centre (Puspen), quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
“Furthermore, today, Tuesday, 7 April 2026, the case files, the suspects, and evidence of the criminal act of assaulting AY have been transferred from the Puspom TNI investigators to the Otmil II-07 Jakarta,” he added.
Aulia explained that the prosecutors from Otmil II-07 Jakarta will then examine the completeness of the formal and material requirements of the case files.
If the files are deemed complete, said Aulia, Otmil II-07 Jakarta will transfer them to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta.
According to Aulia, this transfer is part of the TNI’s commitment to professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement, as well as a demonstration of firmness in addressing any criminal acts committed by TNI soldiers.
