KOMPAS.com reports that smartphone maker HMD has expanded its lineup with a new series named HMD Luma. Although the name may remind some of Nokia Lumia phones, the Luma devices have a distinct identity. The Luma marks HMD’s latest foray into the affordable Android segment, designed to meet basic user needs from communication and entertainment to social media usage. In terms of product line, HMD Luma is said to resemble the earlier-launched HMD Vibe, though it carries a slightly different core specification.

The Luma is powered by a Unisoc T615 chipset built on a 12-nanometre (12 nm) process, with Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 cores. By contrast, the HMD Vibe, which has been described as similar to the Luma, uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC built on a 6 nm process. The Vibe is said to support only 4G connectivity, not 5G.

Turning to the display, the Luma features a 6.7-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1,604 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate, slightly higher than the Vibe, which offers a 190 Hz refresh rate.

For photography, the Luma is equipped with a 50 MP main camera sensor, the same as the Vibe 5G version. The phone also has an 8 MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls. On power, the Luma is backed by a 5,000 mAh battery with 18-watt fast charging via USB-C 2.0.

The Luma also features several legacy attributes, such as a 3.5 mm audio jack and FM radio. It also includes stereo speakers and Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. However, the official price has not yet been announced. A teaser on Instagram indicates the phone will be released soon, according to KompasTekno’s reporting of GSM Arena.
