Norwegian premier due here today

JAKARTA (JP): Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland is scheduled to arrive today, to start a four-day visit to Indonesia.

Brundtland will begin her visit in Yogyakarta, where she will meet with the Yogyakarta governor and visit the Borobudur Temple. On Sunday she will attend a dinner hosted by Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.

She will fly to Jakarta on Monday. In addition to talks with President Soeharto, she will hold meeting with several Indonesian cabinet ministers, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Alatas, the Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta said yesterday.

The visit is expected to further strengthen and develop the political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries, the embassy said in a statement.

Brundtland is accompanied by Minister of Industry and Energy Jens Stoltenberg and an official delegation of 35 people.

During her visit, she will witness the signing of agreements on energy and environmental cooperation between the two governments, and a number of business deals between Indonesian and Norwegian companies.

Her visit is part of a three-nation tour of Asia . She has just attended the UN women's conference in Beijing and will proceed to Singapore from Indonesia. (emb)
