Northwest, Garuda tie up
MINNEAPOLIS (Reuter): Northwest Airlines Inc and Garuda Indonesia said Monday they signed a commercial cooperation agreement to offer enhanced benefits for travel between the United States and Indonesia.
It is the first such alliance between a U.S. and an Indonesian carrier.
The agreement provides for coordination of schedules and connections between the two airlines' flight networks linking points in Indonesia with points in the United States and Canada.
It also calls for code-share service on flights across the Pacific and on Garuda's and Northwest's respective domestic routes, cooperation in cargo areas and joint marketing, sales, promotional and trans-Pacific seat purchase programs.
Garuda Indonesia is 100 percent government owned. It operates a fleet of 55 aircraft.
