North Toraja Narcotics Unit Chief Arrested in Drug Case
The head of the narcotics unit at North Toraja Police (Polres Toraja Utara), Adjunct Commissioner of Police (AKP) Arifan Efendi, along with a fellow officer identified by the initial N who served as a unit head, has been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking case in North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi.
“That is correct. We have already placed them under special assignment (Patsus) for a preliminary investigation,” said Head of the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Zulham Efendy, on Sunday (22 February).
The case began when a man identified as ET, alias O, was apprehended by officers from the Tana Toraja Police whilst in possession of 100 grammes of methamphetamine.
During questioning, ET implicated the police officers from North Toraja Police, alleging they had been receiving weekly payments of Rp 13 million since September 2025.
“This will be investigated further to determine the extent of their involvement and their respective roles,” he explained.
Zulham affirmed that his division would take firm action against any police members found to be involved in drug trafficking.
“The bottom line is there is no place for rogue officers playing around, especially when it comes to narcotics,” he concluded.
