Medan (ANTARA) - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution received humanitarian aid from Lampung Province for disaster victims in South Tapanuli Regency.

Bobby witnessed the symbolic handover of aid by Lampung Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela, amounting to Rp500 million, to South Tapanuli Deputy Regent Jafar Syahbuddin Ritonga.

“This aid represents a tangible manifestation of inter-provincial solidarity in facing disasters,” said Bobby, accompanied by Lampung Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela and South Tapanuli Deputy Regent Jafar Syahbuddin Ritonga at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office on Tuesday.

The Governor also mentioned his personal connection to Lampung, having lived and studied there for approximately six years.

“This aid is very meaningful for our community facing difficult times. We also express our gratitude for the solidarity and support from the Lampung Provincial Government,” stated Bobby.

He further emphasised the importance of inter-provincial cooperation across Sumatra Island, including promoting the integration of regional development programmes (PPD) throughout Sumatra.

“This Sumatra-wide PPD aims to increase investment attractiveness and strengthen the regional economy,” explained Bobby.

Meanwhile, Lampung Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela conveyed that the aid represents the empathy and concern of Lampung’s community for the North Sumatra residents impacted by the disaster.

“This aid is a manifestation of our togetherness for our brothers and sisters in North Sumatra. We hope it can help ease the burden on the community and accelerate the recovery process,” said Jihan.

South Tapanuli Deputy Regent Jafar Syahbuddin Ritonga revealed that out of 15 sub-districts in South Tapanuli, 14 were affected by the disaster.

“We consider this aid very meaningful for the community in the disaster-affected areas, such as our region,” said Jafar.
