North Sumatra Provincial Government Optimises Health Services Through a KSO Hospital
Medan (ANTARA) – Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut) Bobby Nasution has urged related regional organisations (OPD) to deliver healthcare services to the public in the province to the maximum. “We are continuously pushing the acceleration of premier health services for the people,” the governor said at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office on Tuesday. One of the measures, he said, is to present an international-standard hospital in Sumut that will continue to serve patients of BPJS Kesehatan. The governor also confirmed the readiness of the hospital development scheme, planned to be located in the provincial capital. Governor Nasution wants this hospital to offer healthcare with facilities that are comfortable and modern, akin to a five‑star hotel. Head of the North Sumatra Health Office (Dinkes) Faisal Hasrimy said the international-standard hospital would be built under a government–private sector collaboration in an Operational Cooperation (KSO) arrangement. He said the KSO scheme was chosen because it is more effective and efficient, and it will accelerate hospital operations; this model can also minimise risks in human resources management and governance. “With the KSO system, the North Sumatra Provincial Government does not need to build hospital operational capacity from scratch,” he explained. “The KSO operational scheme involves three main parties, namely PT Dirga Surya, Haji Medan Hospital, and the partner hospital, An-Nisa Hospital,” he added. PT Dirga Surya, he clarified, is tasked with providing assets, while the partner hospital manages operational services, and Haji Medan Hospital ensures service quality, governance, and the hospital’s sustainability. Faisal stated that the hospital is planned to be six storeys high with a capacity of 250 beds, equipped with modern health services and competent human resources. “Its location is in central Medan and close to two other international-standard hospitals that have yet to serve BPJS Kesehatan patients,” Faisal said.
