North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution stated that electricity in the region has been restored after a blackout. “Yes, it was partially affected and only yesterday. Last night and this morning we were informed it’s 100% restored. This was communicated to PLN and our provincial government,” Bobby said at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Monday (25 May 2026). During the electricity restoration process, the North Sumatra Provincial Government, along with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and military/police forces, took tactical measures on the ground. One measure was setting up charging points by distributing generators to prevent communication disruptions among residents. “During the restoration period, we distributed generators to several locations with Forkopimda, military, and police—not to all residents, but at specific charging points. The power outage affected mobile signals, so we set up these points. Everything is now 100% restored,” he explained. “We will assess the response measures. For instance, industries such as fisheries using cold storage, not just livestock. We need to evaluate the extent of the impact—whether the provincial government can handle it or if coordination with higher authorities, the central government, is needed,” he said. “Follow-up actions have already been taken. The priority was ensuring hospitals and essential public services remained operational, as well as key economic centres. The rest is still being coordinated,” he added.
