The North Jakarta City Government is tidying up chaotic cables in the Sunter Lake area, Tanjung Priok subdistrict, North Jakarta, to improve comfort and safety in public spaces. “Today, the Ready Response Infrastructure Team (SIGAP) of the North Jakarta City Government is carrying out tidying and arrangement in the Sunter Lake area, Sunter Jaya ward, Tanjung Priok subdistrict,” said Assistant for Economy and Development of North Jakarta, Wawan Budi Rohman, in Jakarta on Monday. Wawan stated that this activity aims to enhance security, comfort, and the aesthetics of the area, which is one of the icons of public spaces in North Jakarta. He also mentioned that the arrangement is a follow-up to instructions from the Mayor of North Jakarta, Hendra Hidayat, in response to field conditions deemed not yet optimally arranged. “We are arranging the tangled cables. Some are cut and some are tidied up and tied to make them look neater,” he said. Wawan stated that the SIGAP team is also trimming trees as a preventive measure to anticipate potential dangers from fragile or overhanging branches. He urged visitors and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to utilise official parking pockets to avoid illegal levies. “We have prepared two parking locations, namely at the Sunter Sports Hall which operates until 10:00 PM WIB and the Sunter shop-house area which serves parking 24 hours,” he said. His side has coordinated with shop-house managers to ensure the availability of safe and affordable parking land. “Using official parking locations is safer because they have clear rates compared to illegal parking,” said Wawan. According to him, the SIGAP team works based on reports from the public through the JAKI application channel and social media. Cross-Organisational Device Unit (OPD) teams are also deployed every day to ensure handling is carried out quickly and accurately. He hopes that this arrangement can optimise the function of public facilities in the Sunter Lake area to make it more comfortable for residents and tourists. “Public reports are our main reference in determining work priorities in the field,” said Wawan.
