Jakarta (ANTARA) - The North Jakarta City Government (Jakut) has redeemed diplomas belonging to hundreds of local residents that were held by schools due to incomplete payment of education fees, even though they had already graduated.

“Today, 246 diplomas of residents were handed over to their owners with the support of Baznas (Bazis),” said North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, this redemption is a tangible form of collaboration and concern for the world of education and the future of the younger generation.

Hendra explained that the Diploma Redemption programme is one of the priorities of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government as a manifestation of support for the community, especially for students and alumni facing economic or administrative obstacles.

“A diploma is not just a document, but proof of struggle and the initial gateway to a better future,” said Hendra.

He also urged parents to continue supporting and accompanying their children so that they do not stop learning and continue to develop.

“We are committed to ensuring that no more residents have their futures hindered just because their diplomas are held,” Hendra stated.

Meanwhile, Tasya Winda Sari, a resident of Kalibaru Ward, Cilincing Subdistrict, North Jakarta, expressed her deep gratitude for the diploma redemption assistance.

The graduate of SMK Sahid 1 North Jakarta admitted that her diploma had been held for three years due to fee issues.

“The process was easy; I am very happy. I will use this diploma to apply for a job,” said Tasya.
