Jakarta — The North Jakarta municipal government is verifying local residents participating in the Free Mudik 2026 programme organised by the DKI Jakarta provincial government for Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah.

“Verification is being conducted according to each cluster’s schedule. In the North Jakarta region, on the first day, the first cluster recorded 33 registrants with a total of 88 passengers,” said Rudi Saptari Sulesuryana, Head of the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-office, in Jakarta on Monday.

On the second day, there were 11 registrants with a total of 36 passengers.

According to Rudi, this number is expected to continue increasing up until the departure on 16 and 17 March 2026.

He expressed hope that residents would utilise the programme in an orderly manner, complete the required documentation, and maintain their health.

“Mudik travellers should not bring excessive luggage or jewellery for the sake of collective safety,” said Rudi.

He stressed that the Free Mudik 2026 programme represents the DKI Jakarta provincial government’s commitment to providing safe, orderly, and affordable transportation services for residents.

“Every year, the DKI Jakarta provincial government, through the Transportation Office, organises free mudik. This year, 26,440 passenger quota are available with 661 buses and 900 motorcycles to be transported using 30 trucks,” explained Rudi.

To expand the reach of information regarding the programme, the administration is not only relying on social media but is also conducting direct outreach at several crowded locations, such as Rawabadak Market, Nusantara Bonded Zone, Lontar Market, and Central Cakung Business Park.

The free mudik programme is divided into three registration clusters. The first cluster includes Solo, Tasikmalaya, Palembang, Madiun, Sragen, and Cilacap on 22-24 February 2026.

The second cluster covers Yogyakarta, Kuningan, Lampung, Tegal, Kebumen, Jombang, and Pekalongan on 25-27 February 2026.

Meanwhile, the third cluster includes Wonogiri, Kediri, Malang, Wonosobo, Purwokerto, Semarang, and Sidoarjo on 28 February-2 March 2026.

Rudi added that the motorcycle transport trucks will depart from Pulo Gadung Terminal on 16 March 2026, whilst passengers will depart from the Monas area on 17 March 2026.

“The return journey for motorcycles is scheduled for 26 March and passengers for 27 March 2026,” said Rudi.
