Non-uniformed Satpol PP Arrest Pak Ogah Blocking a Road on the Latumeten Flyover
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The activity of illegal traffic controllers, or “Pak Ogah”, who blocked one lane of Jalan Prof. Dr. Latumeten, in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, ended after the man was arrested by officers in a sweep operation by the Social Welfare Service (PPKS) on Tuesday afternoon (3 March 2026).
At the location, the ‘Pak Ogah’ operated at the junction of Jalan Satria I and Jalan Prof. Dr. Latumeten. He stood in the middle of the road and several times blocked the lane for vehicles travelling straight from Grogol towards Pluit.
He fully blocked one lane and allowed vehicles from Jalan Satria I to exit first. This action was undertaken to obtain money in exchange for allowing passage.
Around 17:00 WIB, a team of non-uniformed officers attempted to pass from Jalan Satria I to Jalan Prof. Dr. Latumeten.
Sure enough, the ‘Pak Ogah’ then stood again in the middle of the road and signalled with his hand to open a path for vehicles exiting from the alley. Meanwhile, vehicles travelling straight ahead continued to be stopped despite repeated honking due to the congestion.
One of the Satpol PP officers then arrested the man. At the time of arrest, his right hand still held cash.
The arrest was met with the arrestee’s panicked expression, who briefly asked why he was being detained.
“If you want to regulate properly, you can’t do it like that, you make it hard for people and cause congestion, you can’t do it that way,” replied one officer.
The ‘Pak Ogah’ was then taken away on a motorbike and subsequently transported by a patrol car to a social welfare home for rehabilitation.
A total of 100 personnel from Satpol PP, the Transportation Office, and the Social Service were deployed from 16:30 WIB to comb seven urban wards.
The head of Grogol Petamburan subdistrict, Raditian Ramajaya, said the operation was in response to public complaints widely discussed on social media.
‘We know last week there was viral coverage about many Pak Ogah or PPKS in our area extorting or coercing residents passing through,’ Raditian said at the troop muster on Tuesday.
‘We have already mapped the main points, at Latumeten, Tubagus Angke, and Daan Mogot. Those are our focus points,’ he added.
