BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - The Bogor City Government bans Eid al-Adha animal sellers from selling on sidewalks to maintain public order. This policy has drawn responses from vendors who request a grace period to continue selling or a designated location.

One Eid al-Adha animal seller on Jalan Raya Ciomas, Intan (29), hopes the Bogor City Government will grant leniency because the sale of Eid animals occurs only once a year. She says that if selling on sidewalks is indeed not allowed, the government should provide a dedicated location for the sellers.

Intan sells Garut and Priangan sheep with prices starting at Rp 2.5 million for about 27 kilograms to Rp 8 million for weights above 70 kilograms. Although the selling price is quite high, she admits her profit margin is not large. “At most Rp 100,000 to Rp 200,000; I don’t take a big profit. For weights above 70 kg it’s about Rp 300,000 to Rp 500,000—not much,” she said.

Currently, Intan has around 20 sheep displayed at her stall on Jalan Raya Ciomas. “I don’t know where to move to, there’s no other place. What should I do if not on the sidewalk? There’s no other place,” said Siti Aisah on Jalan Raya Ciomas, Thursday (21 May 2026). She also hopes the Bogor City Government can provide a special area for Eid al-Adha animal sellers. “What I want is for a place to be provided. I just don’t know how much rent would be,” she added. Aisah sold 27 sheep with prices starting Rp 3 million for about 30 kilograms to Rp 6 million for weights above 70 kilograms.
