No Penalty for Submitting SPT Until 30 April 2026, DJP Offers Relaxation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has assured individual taxpayers who delay submitting their Annual Income Tax Return (SPT) until 30 April 2026 that they will not face administrative sanctions.
This policy is contained in DJP Announcement Number PENG-28/PJ.09/2026, which provides relaxation in the form of waiving fines and interest for taxpayers who report or pay taxes after the normal deadline of 31 March until the end of April 2026.
Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto emphasised that this policy is intended to give the public leeway during the transition period of the new tax administration system.
In addition to exempting late reporting penalties, DJP will also cancel fines that have already been issued through official tax bills.
Furthermore, delays in reporting during this relaxation period will not affect the taxpayer’s status.
This policy also addresses the technical challenges still faced in implementing the Coretax system, which will be used starting in 2026.
“Now every data must be reconfirmed with comparison databases, such as population data and business licensing. So it’s more detailed and complex,” he explained.
He acknowledged that a number of taxpayers are still experiencing issues such as slow systems or buffering. However, this condition is seen as part of the adaptation process.
“This is a new system, like a newborn baby. There is a learning curve, both for users and for us,” Bimo said.
As of 26 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB, the number of submitted SPTs reached 9,131,427.
The majority come from employee individual taxpayers at 8,196,513, followed by non-employees at 924,443, and business entities around 190,000.
On the other hand, Coretax account activations continue to increase, with a total of 16,963,643 taxpayers having activated their accounts, dominated by individual taxpayers.
“As of yesterday, it’s almost 9.1 million. We’re still waiting for about 5 million,” said DJP Director of Outreach, Services, and Public Relations Inge Diana Rismawanti.
In addition, DJP continues to provide services in several regions during the Eid holiday, including in Papua and Maluku, to assist the public in fulfilling their tax obligations.
With this relaxation, the government hopes to maintain taxpayer compliance levels without sacrificing the quality of reporting amid adjustments to the new system.
