No mystery here
Here comes another gutless (sic) hiding behind anonymity (Tedious, uninspired and tiresome, The Jakarta Post, July 16, 1996). What makes "mystery writer II" think our letters are in the way of "other people's opinions?" If he or she and the "few old-timers" have something more interesting to write about than we do, why don't they write themselves? Show us how it should be done. But please, don't be ashamed to publish your name.
The letter shows a willingness to hit but the fear of striking. Note the writer tiptoeing around his wish to threaten that letters such as ours may lead to "veteran readers" to stop reading your paper.
Since The Jakarta Post has just carried out a survey on its readership, the editors might be in a position to judge by themselves what the majority of its readers think. I would like to know what the survey has shown about that.
