No fines when computers down

JAKARTA (JP): People processing their vehicle ownership documents should not be fined, the head of the city revenue agency said yesterday.

"While the computers are down, late fines should not be applied," Wahab Rachmatsjah said.

The Kompas daily reported yesterday computers at the City Police Headquarters have not functioned since Monday, disappointing people wanting to extend their vehicle ownership validity.

Wahab said all requests stalled since Monday should be processed in one day as soon as the computers were fixed.

Payments from vehicle ownership documents make up one of the biggest sources of city income, and are paid to the revenue agency. (anr)
