Former Indramayu Regent Nina Agustina Dai Bachtiar has stated that she is ready to join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). The daughter of former National Police Chief General (ret.) Dai Bachtiar, said she had sought the blessing of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, before making her political decision.

Nina, who previously served as a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), paid a visit to Jokowi’s residence in Kampung Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday (February 25, 2026). During the meeting, she expressed her intention to join PSI.

“This was a friendly visit, and I sought his blessing to join PSI,” Nina said after the meeting.

She said that the last time she met Jokowi was when he was still president, during a harvest festival in Indramayu Regency. According to her, Jokowi’s influence, or the “Jokowi effect,” was one of the main considerations for her decision to join PSI.

Nina arrived at Jokowi’s residence accompanied by the Chairman of the PSI Regional Leadership Council (DPW) for West Java, Abang Ijo Hapidin. She is optimistic that PSI’s presence in Indramayu Regency will bring positive change.

“With PSI joining Indramayu Regency, I believe it will become even better. The Jokowi effect is very strong, and that is why I joined PSI,” she said.

She said that she had previously joined PDIP to support the development of Indramayu. Now, by joining PSI, she hopes to contribute again to the region she once led and to strengthen the party in West Java.

“Mr. (Jokowi) gave his blessing for me to join PSI and asked me to get involved with the community,” Nina said.

Meanwhile, Abang Ijo Hapidin confirmed that Nina had officially joined PSI. According to him, the presence of the former Regent of Indramayu will strengthen the party’s structure and consolidation in West Java.

“Ms. Nina is now with us, and together we will strengthen PSI in West Java,” said Hapidin. He added that Nina’s position in the party structure will be determined in a meeting of the PSI West Java leadership in the near future.

PSI, which is led by Chairman Kaesang Pangarep, is targeting the strengthening of its structure in 27 regencies/cities throughout West Java. With Nina joining, the party hopes that its support base in Indramayu will become even stronger. (WJ/I-1)

INDONESIA Corruption Watch (ICW) has criticized the support for revising the KPK Law, which was expressed by former 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

The statement by President Joko Widodo, who said he wanted the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to return to the old law, was seen as nothing more than a political gimmick.

The statement by the 7th President Joko Widodo or Jokowi regarding the discourse on revising the Law on the Corruption Eradication Commission or revising the KPK Law, has drawn criticism and appears to be an attempt to wash his hands of the matter, according to ICW.

MEMBER of Commission III of the DPR RI, Nasyirul Falah Amru, responded to the attitude of the 7th President of Indonesia (Jokowi) who agreed to return the Law on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to its old version.
