Kompas (April 19, 1996) reported on the Nigerian Mafia which
has entered Indonesia. I myself have received three letters of
the same tone described in the report. I ignored the letters
because of their peculiarity and even disgusting nature. The
letters indicated that some Nigerian high ranking officials
(completely unknown to me) asked me to cooperate with them to
deceive their country involving a great deal of money. Moreover,
they asked me to keep the matter highly secret. My instinct
warned me that it must be a conspiracy. Fortunately, I have not
received any more letters.

I would like to warn entrepreneurs, government officials and
the public about this scam. I further appeal to the Indonesian
Chamber of Commerce, the Attorney General's Office and the police
to investigate the Mafioso activities. I also call on the post
office to pay special attention to letters originating from "419"
Nigeria.
