Ngurah Rai Airport Resumes Operations After Closing for Nyepi
The management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Bali, has announced the resumption of operations after a 24-hour closure for the Holy Day of Nyepi.
“Ngurah Rai International Airport reopened for operations on Friday (20/3/2026) at 06.00 WITA following the observance of the Holy Day of Nyepi,” stated Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of the Communication and Legal Division at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday.
He explained that on Friday morning, to commence operations, the first arriving passengers were from the domestic route Surabaya–Denpasar on Citilink flight QG 692, landing at 06.52 WITA.
Subsequently, passengers arrived from the international route Hong Kong–Denpasar on Hong Kong Airlines flight HX 707, which landed at 06.58 WITA.
Eka Sandi noted that for departures, the first flight from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was on the domestic route, with Citilink flight QG 691 to Surabaya taking off at 08.10 WITA.
Next, for the international route, the first departure was serviced by Hong Kong Airlines flight HX 706 to Hong Kong at 09.00 WITA.
Thus, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has returned to normal operations, while also conveying that the atmosphere during the Holy Day of Nyepi remained conducive without any flight activities.
“We can confirm that the situation at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport during the Holy Day of Nyepi was conducive,” said Eka Sandi.
It should be noted that amid the ongoing Lebaran Transportation Post from 13–30 March 2026, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was temporarily closed on 19 March 2026 from 06.00 until 20 March 2026 at 06.00 WITA.
The operators recorded that on that day, 440 scheduled commercial regular flights were not operated, comprising 231 domestic route flights and 209 international route flights.
During that period, 19 aircraft performed remain overnight or parked at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
