JAKARTA - To strengthen the implementation of the Zero ODOL 2027 policy, the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation will undertake comprehensive handling from upstream to downstream. Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan stated that the problem of over-dimension and over-load vehicles can no longer be addressed partially but must target the entire logistics transport ecosystem. “Many view ODOL only as a traffic violation on the road. In fact, this is a safety issue that must be handled comprehensively from upstream to downstream because it involves the logistics ecosystem,” Aan said in an official statement on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Aan emphasised that commitment from all parties is needed, from ministries/institutions, logistics transport operators, to the public, to realise the Zero ODOL target in 2027. Currently, all stakeholders are processing various improvement steps in the logistics ecosystem, including regulatory aspects, supervision, and driver welfare. “We already have a roadmap that not only focuses on supervision and law enforcement but also covers the entire ecosystem, including driver welfare which is being prepared by the relevant ministry,” Aan said. From the supervision side, the government will strengthen controls from the initial stage of logistics distribution. Supervision begins from the goods loading point, followed by digital detection on the road, data integration, and consistent law enforcement. With this approach, all parties in the logistics chain can be monitored and encouraged to comply with the rules. “The handling must be comprehensive from upstream to downstream. The approach is not just crackdowns but ecosystem arrangement. In the future, responsibility will not only be burdened on drivers but also operators and goods owners,” Aan said. “Commitment from all parties is the key. With the existing roadmap and support from all stakeholders, we are optimistic that Zero ODOL 2027 can be achieved,” Aan added.
