New Samsat Policy for Depok–Bekasi Lets Residents Pay Without Original BPKB
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Residents in the Depok area, the City of Bekasi, and Bekasi Regency no longer need to bring the Vehicle Ownership Book (BPKB) when paying motor vehicle tax (PKB). The policy was announced by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi via his official TikTok and Instagram accounts on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. The Samsat service simplification aims to ease the tax payment process for the public. Dedi said that residents who had previously been required to bring the document can now access tax payment services without the original BPKB or copies.
“For residents of West Java in the Depok area, Bekasi City and Bekasi Regency, who until now had to bring a BPKB to pay vehicle tax, I say from today you no longer need to bring the original BPKB or copies and you can carry out the service directly,” he said, reflecting his post on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
“He encouraged the public to use digital services or SIGNAL to streamline administrative processes. So there is no need to go to Samsat to pay the tax.”
He also expressed appreciation to West Java residents who consistently meet their tax obligations: “Thank you to all West Java residents who continue to pay their taxes diligently and have seen increased revenues in West Java Province,” he said.
He emphasised that the government is committed to returning vehicle tax revenue to regional infrastructure development — roads provincial, district/city roads, and village roads.
Head of Traffic Police at Metro Depok, AKBP Joko Sembodo, said that for Depok residents who want to pay vehicle tax, there is no need to bring BPKB, either original or copy.
“That is correct (per the West Java Governor’s words), valid (no need to bring BPKB) when paying vehicle tax,” Joko told Kompas.com on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. Thus, for the people of Depok and Bekasi, it is hoped they will be more diligent in paying taxes due to the ease of this measure.”
