JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Danantara Indonesia menunjuk Luke Thomas Mahony sebagai Chief Executive Officer of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), the new state-owned enterprise formed specifically to manage the export of strategic natural resource commodities (SDA).

The appointment was disclosed by Danantara’s CEO Rosan Roeslani during a visit to Istana Negara, Jakarta, on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

“For now, the Chief Executive Officer of PT DSI is Luke Thomas,” he said.

The name Luke Thomas Mahony has been listed as a director in the Establishment Decree (SK) Approval No AHU-0039765.AH.01.01 of 2026, dated 19 May 2026, concerning the formation of PT DSI, issued by the Directorate General of Legal Administration Affairs (AHU) of the Ministry of Law.

Luke Thomas Mahony is an Australian citizen who previously served as SEVP Business Performance & Optimisation at Danantara Indonesia since September 2025.

He is not new to the mining sector. Before joining Danantara, Mahony had more than 21 years of experience in the mining industry.

Additionally, he has held various technical and strategic roles at Vale Base Metals, headquartered in Canada, from July 2014 to August 2024. Among them, Mahony served as Chief Technical Officer from December 2022 to February 2024, and continued as Director from February to August 2024.

Not only at Vale, he has also gained experience at BHP Billiton, the Australian multinational mining company. From July 2010 to July 2014, he held positions ranging from Principal Business Analyst to Manager Production Prestrip.

In terms of education, Mahony indeed has an academic background in mining and finance. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2022. He also holds three master’s degrees from the University of New South Wales: Master of Finance in 2004, Master of Mining Engineering in 2006, and Master of Geomechanics in 2009.
