New palm oil factory

JAKARTA (JP): PT Tor Ganda, a Pekanbaru, Riau-based private firm, is planning to establish a palm oil mill in Tambusai Timur village, Kampar regency, Riau.

Company President D.L. Sitorus said permission to construct the Rp 15-billion (US$6.15 million) plant had recently been issued by the Investment Coordinating Board. The plant would be established on a six-hectare plot of land, he said.

Sitorus was quoted by Antara as saying that 100 homes built for employees were ready to be occupied.

The factory's foundations are still being erected, as are containers to hold the palm oil.

Sitorus said funding for the factory, which will produce 60 tons of palm oil an hour, came entirely from the company's own sources.

He said the plant's construction was scheduled to be opened in September next year. (pwn)
