New Masyumi supporters
New Masyumi supporters
From Media Indonesia
On Nov. 24, 1995, Masyumi, a new Moslem organization, was
established. One interesting aspect of the new organization is
that its supporters are as colorful as a painter's palette. The
organization must have its own way of recruiting supporters.
My concern is: In what context do they render support. Do
supporters respect the organization because it carries a
different opinion about matters of civil rights? Or is it to draw
Moslems' attention to such matters?
I was called the morning before the new Masyumi's declaration
was announced. My attention was held because I respect different
opinions, since the benefit of other opinions was referred to in
the declaration of the United Nations. I ask myself, "What's
wrong with setting up new mass organizations like Fordem, ICMI,
PCPP, YKPK, New PNI?"
I support Masyumi and do not mind if I am included in one of
its boards. I wholeheartedly support Masyumi.
