New liner for Sulawesi
JAKARTA (JP): PT Putera Pare Lines will to import a passenger
ship from Germany to link South Sulawesi and Sabah state in
Malaysia, the company's executive said yesterday.
HM Tahir Palureng was quoted by Antara in Parepare, South
Sulawesi, as saying that the US$13 million ship, capable of
carrying 600 passengers which will start operation later this
year.
Tahir explained that the liner will transport Indonesian
workers to and from Malaysia as well as foreign tourists wishing
to visit Indonesia.
To support the ship's operation, Tahir said, the company will
cooperate with the local administration to build a new passenger
terminal near the Nusantara Parepare port. (rid)
