New hotel to operate
JAKARTA (JP): The Singapore-based Equatorial Group will start operating a four-star hotel here early next month, offering some 405 rooms.
The Grand Metro Equatorial, located in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, plans to compete with other well-operated hotels of the same class in the nearby area of Jl. Thamrin, including Sari Pan Pacific and Nikko's President Hotel.
Equatorial's public relations manager Miriam J. Taranteyn told The Jakarta Post yesterday that the hotel will have its soft opening early next month.
She said that the hotel is the sixth property in Asia managed by the Equatorial Group, with the others located in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Vietnam.
The hotel is owned by PT Tanah Abang Indah Pratama, a subsidiary of Metro Group, which runs shopping centers, supermarkets and real estate businesses. (icn)
