New Chinese Brand Leapmotor Set to Launch at GIIAS 2026

JAKARTA – Indonesia’s automotive industry is preparing to welcome a new player in the electric vehicle market. The Chinese brand Leapmotor is confirmed to officially launch at the GIIAS 2026 event, scheduled for July next year.

Leapmotor’s entry represents a strategic move by Indomobil Group to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of PT Indomobil National Distributor, Tan Kim Piauw, stated that the brand will be one of the main highlights at Indonesia’s largest automotive exhibition.

“We have confirmed that we will bring the B10 model, which is an SUV. We also plan to bring other models,” he said.

For information, Leapmotor, officially named Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co., Ltd, is a new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer based in Hangzhou, China, established in 2015.

One of its main advantages is Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) technology, which integrates the battery directly into the vehicle’s chassis structure.

This approach is claimed to improve space efficiency, structural rigidity, as well as the overall performance of electric vehicles.
