New Chapter! Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry Officially Named Suspect in Same-Sex Sexual Harassment Case
The handling of the alleged same-sex sexual harassment case implicating Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry (SAM) has entered a new phase. The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has officially named the individual as a suspect following a case review process.
This designation represents a pivotal moment in the probe, which was initially reported to the police at the end of 2025. The suspect’s status was confirmed by the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko.
“Based on the case review, investigators have designated Mr SAM as a suspect,” he stated on Friday, 24 April 2026.
The case refers to a police report numbered LP/B/586/XI/2025/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri, dated 28 November 2025. It is being handled by the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking (Dittipid PPA dan PPO) at Bareskrim Polri.
In line with these developments, investigators have formally notified the complainant regarding the latest status of the case.
“In connection with the above, the complainant or victim has been informed of the investigation’s progress via the Notification of Investigation Progress Letter (SP2HP) numbered B/66/IV/Res.1.24/2026/Dittipid PPA dan PPO to Mr MMA on 22 April 2026, signed by the investigator,” he added.
With Sheikh Ahmad now named as a suspect, investigators will proceed to the next stages of the legal process, including potential further examinations and deeper analysis of the collected evidence.
The alleged sexual harassment is believed to have occurred since 2017. Indications of such deviant behaviour even emerged internally in 2021, when SAM reportedly admitted to his actions and issued an apology.
However, similar alleged incidents are said to have recurred, eventually coming to public attention at the end of 2025.
Feeling that there was no change from the reported individual, the victims decided to pursue legal recourse by officially reporting the case on 28 November 2025.
The public now awaits decisive action from the authorities to resolve this widely attention-grabbing case, including the possible involvement of international authorities to bring the suspect before Indonesian justice.
