JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not yet disclosed the price and size of the Louis Vuitton (LV) shoes belonging to Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo, which were seized during a sting operation (OTT) on Friday night (10/4/2026). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the agency will auction the shoes if the case involving Regent Gatut becomes legally binding and the items are forfeited to the state. “There are questions coming in via the KPK’s social media asking about the price and size of the shoes. So, the public should wait; once this case is final and the seized items are forfeited to the state, they will be auctioned. The public can then own them by participating in the auction,” Budi said at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday (11/4/2026). In the sting operation, the KPK seized four pairs of Louis Vuitton shoes belonging to Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo, valued at Rp 129 million. “On this occasion, we are also displaying cash amounting to Rp 335 million,” he added. In this case, the KPK has named Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide Dwi Yoga Ambal as suspects related to an extortion case within the Tulungagung Regency administration on Saturday (11/4/2026). Gatut is alleged to have pressured the heads of regional work units (OPD) in the Tulungagung Regency government following the inauguration of officials. These officials were reportedly asked to sign statements of readiness to resign from their positions and as civil servants if they were unable to carry out their duties and responsibilities. The letters, with blank dates, are suspected to have been used as leverage against the OPD heads to meet the regent’s demands, including cash contributions. In practice, Gatut is also alleged to have requested money from 16 OPDs. Gatut is further suspected of demanding contributions by adding or shifting budgets in several OPDs. From these additions, he requested up to 50 percent, even before the budgets were disbursed. The collection of this money was carried out by Gatut’s aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, who in the process often treated the OPDs like debtors.
