Netanyahu Says War with Iran Not Over, Uranium Must Be Eliminated

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted that Iran’s enriched uranium supplies must be “eliminated” before the United States-Israel war against Iran can be considered over. “This is not over, because there is still nuclear material – enriched uranium – that must be removed from Iran. There are still enrichment sites that must be dismantled,” Netanyahu said in an interview on the “60 Minutes” programme on CBS, as reported by Al Arabiya on Monday (11/5/2026). “You go in and you take it,” the Israeli leader said when asked how the uranium could be eliminated. Netanyahu stated that US President Donald Trump holds a similar view. “I won’t talk about military methods, but the president, what President Trump said to me – ‘I want to go in there.’” However, Netanyahu’s statement contradicts Trump’s public position. The 79-year-old US President is under increasing domestic pressure to end the Iran war. He insists that Iran’s nuclear programme is under control. Trump said Iran has been “militarily defeated” and he insists that the uranium can be removed “whenever we want.” “We’ll get it sometime, whenever we want. We’ll monitor it,” he told independent television journalist Sharyl Attkisson. “We’re monitoring it very well. If anyone approaches that place, we’ll know it and we’ll blow it up,” Trump snapped. Meanwhile, when asked by CBS how the uranium supplies could be removed from Iran, Netanyahu said he prefers a deal. “I think it can be done physically. That’s not the issue. If you have a deal and you go in and take it out, why not? That’s the best way,” Netanyahu said. When asked if there are military options to seize the hidden uranium, Netanyahu said, “I won’t talk about military possibilities, plans, or anything like that.” “I won’t give a timeline for that, but I will say that it is a very important mission,” he snapped. In addition to the unresolved uranium supply issue, Netanyahu said there are several other war objectives that have not been achieved. “There are still Iran-backed proxies, their ballistic missiles that they still want to produce. Now, we’ve reduced a lot of that, but all of it is still there and there is still work to be done,” he emphasised.
