As Chief of the Neighborhood Community (RW 07) in the Menteng
Atas village, South Jakarta, I was surprised to receive a report
from one of the RT heads that he had received a threatening
letter from the Security personnel (Drs. T.S.) of the South
Jakarta Mayoralty.

The letter states: "In relation to the complaint of Menteng
Atas residents, particularly those who are in the RT 13/07
neighborhood unit, we would like to warn you (RT 13 head) and ask
you to resign because according to the community's report you are
incredibly incapable of managing the neighborhood organization.
If you don't care to resign from your post we will summon you to
the Mayoralty or bring you to court..."

I deplore the letter and wonder whether or not the security
official knows the substance of the Order of the Organization
concerning Neighborhood Community. The regulation stipulates that
the head of the neighborhood community is elected by the people
through consultations and mutual agreement, in compliance with
the Decree of the Governor of Jakarta Metropolitan Administration
No 4017, Year 1984 section seven paragraph 15 article three.

Doesn't the official know that most people are reluctant to be
elected for the post of neighborhood community head. Besides, a
neighborhood head does not get a salary and is required to serve
the society.

I appeal to South Jakarta Mayor to pay attention to the matter
and protect the whole society.
