REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Tanjung Priok Customs has confirmed the arrival of Mahindra Scorpio pick-up trucks from India via the Port of Tanjung Priok. Based on the Import Declaration of Goods (PIB) data as of February 24, 2026, the number of units that arrived is almost 1,000 vehicles.

“The number is indeed almost 1,000 units,” said the Public Relations Officer of Tanjung Priok Customs when confirmed by Republika, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).

All of these vehicles are stored at the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) area. Of the total that arrived, 552 units have been shipped out of the port area after the customs process was completed.

“For the goods that I mentioned earlier, the import documents have been cleared. As many as 552 units have been shipped out,” he said.

Customs explained that the vehicles fall into the Completely Built Up (CBU) category and were transported using containers. The country of origin is recorded as India. However, the customs authorities do not know the schedule for subsequent shipments because the customs clearance process only begins when the ship docks.

Regarding the polemic of import delays that had emerged, Customs stated that it had not received any official notification regarding distribution restrictions. “The port should accept it if there is an official notification,” he said.

If there are restrictions, the local service office will wait for directions from the central Customs office. Customs also emphasized that the PIB document does not contain a column specifying the purpose of the import.

“In the PIB document, there is indeed no column specifying the purpose of the import, whether it is this import or other imports,” he said.

So far, they have not received any official information that the vehicles are intended for a specific program. On the other hand, he said, information about the program is usually only provided by the importer if it is related to a specific ceremonial event.

“As far as we know, there is no information that this is for the Kopdes Merah Putih program,” he said.

“Because indeed, the purpose of the program is not stated, unless the importer voluntarily informs the port for a ceremony,” he added.

Regarding the possibility of contract cancellations after the goods arrive, Customs explained that procedurally, the goods can be returned to the owner and can be re-exported to the country of origin. However, if it is not handled immediately, there is a potential for demurrage costs, which is the responsibility of the TPS as the manager of the storage area.

“For additional costs, it is the authority of the TPS (private company). Customs does not charge storage fees,” he said.
