Jakarta — BRI continues to pursue various initiatives in addressing waste problems through programmes that concretely assist waste management across different regions of Indonesia. Through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme BRI Peduli, the state-owned bank has once again demonstrated its commitment to tackling waste issues and preserving the environment through the BRI Peduli “Yok Kita Gas” programme.

This time, BRI Peduli “Yok Kita Gas” was carried out through waste management education and socialisation activities at the Cantik Resik Waste Bank located in Jatikramat subdistrict, Bekasi City, West Java. The event was held to commemorate National Waste Awareness Day, which falls on 21 February each year, and involved hundreds of community members comprising Cantik Resik Waste Bank administrators, students from SMPN 23 Bekasi City, and residents of Jatikramat subdistrict.

The waste management socialisation was conducted through presentations on product innovation. The event was organised to introduce various sustainable waste management innovations that are expected to be adopted and implemented in Jatikramat subdistrict, Bekasi City.

During the waste sorting education session, community members were given an understanding of proper waste management. This is expected to enhance public awareness and understanding of the importance of waste sorting, particularly household waste.

Participants were also invited to take part in an environmental campaign through a product innovation competition. Through this activity, participants not only gained theoretical understanding but also practical experience in applying the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

To support the implementation of the BRI Peduli “Yok Kita Gas” programme at the Cantik Resik Waste Bank, BRI Peduli provided assistance in the form of two composting units, which are expected to help convert household waste into solid and liquid fertiliser, thereby reducing waste sent to landfill sites. In addition, inorganic waste bins and other equipment were also provided.

BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny stated that in line with the commemoration of National Waste Awareness Day, BRI is reaffirming its concrete commitment to helping address waste problems in various regions, particularly in major cities.

“The implementation of the BRI Peduli ‘Yok Kita Gas’ programme at the Cantik Resik Waste Bank in conjunction with National Waste Awareness Day represents a tangible expression of BRI’s concern in helping to address waste problems and maintain environmental balance,” he said.
