The National Traffic Police Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, engaged in a silaturahmi with representatives from online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver communities from various regions across the Archipelago as part of the ‘Polantas Menyapa dan Melayani’ programme. During this meeting, he urged the drivers to become pioneers in road traffic safety.

The warm gathering took place in Semarang, Central Java, on Wednesday (22/4/2026), during the National Samsat Coordinator Meeting for the 2026 Fiscal Year. Attendees included the Chairman of the ojol association from West Java, Iyan; Central Java Ojol Chairman Nugi; East Java Ojol Chairman Asmuin; Bali Ojol Chairman Agus Adi; South Sumatra Online Driver Association Chairman Asrul; and North Sumatra Ojol Godams Chairman Agem Zubir.

On this occasion, Inspector General Agus stated that the meeting with ojol drivers from across the Archipelago was carried out on the orders of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. He emphasised the crucial role of ojol drivers as frequent road users who interact directly with the public.

“This is part of our duties, and most importantly, it is the attention of the National Police Chief. So, it would be disrespectful to the National Police Chief. I hope that colleagues here become pioneers of safety,” said Inspector General Agus.

“Our primary task moving forward, the most important one, is how we can reduce accident incidents and reduce fatalities,” he continued.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and the ojol community to create safe and orderly traffic. According to him, various field issues can be resolved through good communication.

“We have also instructed the Traffic Directorate to collaborate with ojol colleagues. Actually, ojol has many problems. But after meeting with the Traffic Directorate, they have started to decrease. Hopefully, there are none,” he said.

Inspector General Agus appreciated the improving relationship between traffic police units and the ojol community. He hoped this synergy would be strengthened in the future, allowing various issues to be discussed to produce solutions.

“I want there to be Ojol Nusantara in the future, as part of how we become pioneers of safety—without any politics. So, I came here to realise security, safety, and order together,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Jasa Raharja, Muhammad Awaluddin, who was also present, viewed the collaboration with the ojol community as a strategic step in reducing accident fatalities.

According to him, ojol drivers can become the first party to provide assistance when an accident occurs on the road, i.e., first responders.

“We encourage online driver friends to become first responders who respond first when an incident occurs and simultaneously carry out emergency handling,” said Awaluddin.

He explained that Jasa Raharja is also preparing support in the form of simple emergency handling training to the utilisation of digital applications for quick accident reporting.

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that a transportation safety ecosystem will be formed involving various parties, including road users.

“We call this collaborative synergy an ecosystem for national transportation safety. So, indeed, the National Police alone, Jasa Raharja alone, cannot do it. I very much agree with Pak Kakor’s ideas to involve the participation of all community components,” he stated.

On this occasion, representatives from ojol communities from various regions also conveyed issues they faced while working in the field. The drivers directly shared their concerns with Inspector General Agus.

Inspector General Agus appeared serious in listening and noting all the input from the ojol drivers, stating that he would discuss and follow up on them. This received appreciation from the ojol driver representatives.

“As ojol, we are greatly helped by this activity with Pak Kakorlantas and Jasa Raharja. After this, we will form the Ojol Nusantara association,” said Central Java Ojol Chairman, Nugi.

He hoped that the synergy between the National Police, Jasa Raharja, and ojol drivers could be even better. Nugi also hoped that the input provided by ojol drivers could be discussed by stakeholders to realise solutions.

The meeting was also attended by traffic directorate officials from several regions, including West Java Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Raydian Kokrosono, Central Java Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Pratama Adhyasastra, East Java Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Iwan Saktiadi, South Sumatra Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Maesa Soegriwo, North Sumatra Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Firman Darmansyah, South Kalimantan Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Fahri Siregar, and East Kalimantan Provincial Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Ahmad Yanuari Insan.

In addition, key officials from the National Traffic Police Corps were present, including the Director of Security and Safety (Dirkamsel) Brigadier General Prianto, the Director of Law Enforcement (Dirgakkum) Brigadier General Faizal, and the Head of Operations Section of the National Traffic Police, Commissioner Aries Syahbudin.
